Chili Pineapple Zinger Mocktail
With the holidays behind us, many people are taking a break from festive season indulgences. That means eating healthy, moving more, and for some, abstaining from alcohol. Recent polls show that one in seven Americans participates in “Dry January.” And in fact, the sober-curious movement is becoming a wellness trend with serious traction. This sober-curious movement aims to reduce alcohol consumption and examine the personal relationship of how and why we drink.
In honor of those going dry this year, we have created several mocktails to fill your cup. This recipe is a warming Pineapple Zinger. Mixing pineapple juice, cayenne, lime, and club soda creates a mocktail reminiscent of something you might enjoy while watching a sunset. The cayenne brings a mild heat, so adjust the spice to your liking. Pineapple juice is a good source of bromelain and vitamin C—nutrients that support muscle repair after some types of physical activity.
Whether you are taking on Dry January, or trying on sobriety long term, the research shows that 30 days or more of alcohol abstinence has remarkable results. The immediate results are weight loss, improved sleep, and stable energy; and long term results are increased insulin sensitivity, liver health, blood pressure, and reduced oxidative stress.
